Kubb set dimensions
A complete Kubb set consists of wooden blocks with standardized proportions. While exact measurements can vary slightly between manufacturers, these are the commonly accepted dimensions.
Dimensions and weights of a Kubb set
In the table below you can find the official Kubb set tournament sizes and weights. It is important to know that the weights are always within a certain bandwidth. Wood is a natural product and the weight of the material may vary. The bandwidth of each piece is mentioned in the table as well.

Kubb type of wood
There are so many different Kubb sets. The used materials of these sets also vary. Pine is used in the “Kubb World Championship”. From a sustainable point of view most of the professional sets are now made from Rubber wood. The big advantage of Rubber wood is that it dents instead of splinters. The game pieces often come in tough contact with each other and you don’t want your set to be full of splinters after a couple of games. So pay close attention when choosing your set: I have listed the best Kubb sets for you, to make the decision easier for you!
Official Kubb field dimensions
A standard Kubb field measures 5 meters wide and 8 meters long (16.5 x 26 feet). The shorter sides are the baselines, where each team places their kubbs.
• Width: 5 meters (16.5 feet)
• Length: 8 meters (26 feet)
The field does not need to be exact for casual play. Many players adjust the size depending on space, skill level or number of players. The key is keeping the proportions similar so neither team has an advantage.
The king is placed exactly in the center of the field.

It is important to neatly plot the field to get a perfect rectangle. In this way you can get used to the official dimensions before playing a Kubb tournament.
Adjusted dimensions for casual play
One of the strengths of Kubb is its flexibility. You can easily adjust the dimensions to suit your situation.
Common adjustments include:
• Shorter fields for beginners or children
• Narrower fields for smaller gardens
• Longer fields for experienced players seeking more challenge
As long as both teams agree on the setup, adjusted dimensions work perfectly fine.
Why correct dimensions matter
Using proper Kubb dimensions improves balance and strategy. A field that is too small removes tactical depth, while a field that is too large can slow the game down unnecessarily.
Correct proportions ensure:
• Fair throwing distances
• Better placement of field kubbs
• A smoother game rhythm
If you want to play Kubb as it was intended, starting with the right dimensions makes a noticeable difference.
