The best tips to win at Kubb!
Participation is more important than winning… No way, not as far as I’m concerned!
If you’re as fanatic as I am, you want to win at any cost. “Good preparation” is not considered cheating, but proofs your winning mentality! 😀👌
So here you are: 5 tips to always win with a game of Kubbs! Even if you don’t win: you will still look like a pro with these tips!
Tip 1: Throwing technique
Lock your elbow. Throwing is done from your shoulder, so you can aim best.
For the perfect balance, always keep 1 other throwing stick in your other hand (so don’t collect all of the throwing sticks in your empty hand). Just leave the rest on the floor quietly.
This takes a bit of practice: always try to have the throwing stick rotate 180 degrees when throwing it. This has been proven the best way.
It is important that you do not change your technique, keep throwing the same way, even if it does not go well in the beginning.
Tip 2: throw in like a pro!
When your Kubb’s get thrown over, you have to throw them back into the field of your opponent. It is useful to throw these Kubbs as close together as possible. This allows you to knock over several Kubbs in one throw with your throwing!
Tip 3: try to place your opponent’s Kubbs as far apart as possible
When your opponent throws the knocked over Kubbs into your field, it is useful to place them as far apart as possible. Because of this technique, he usually needs several throwing sticks to knock them over. This reduces the chance that your opponent will get to your Line-Kubbs in their turn.
If you cannot put them far apart, put them as close together as possible (even better, against each other). Blocks against each other are very difficult to throw over.
Tip 4: Always throw perpendicular to the Kubb
Always try to stand so that you are perpendicular to the Kubb (that the flat side is facing you), then your chance of impact is greatest!
Tip 5: the opponent fails twice, now you will almost certainly win!
If the opponent throws his knocked over Kubb out of the field twice, you have (almost) won. According the rules you may now decide where to place this “field Kubb”. Put this “field Kubb” as close to the king as possible. In his attempt to knock over the Kubb, the chance of the other team knocking over the king is about 100%. Congratulations!
